New Field Station!

In August 2019 FCAT finished building a field station with capacity for 44 people. It was officially inaugurated with the presence of the local communities, Ministerio del Ambiente, family and friends.

¡Felicitaciones a los autores de la reciente publicación sobre el descubrimiento de una nueva localidad para la 🐸 rana venenosa en peligro crítico, Leucostethus bilsa, en la Reserva FCAT dentro de la #REMACH en Esmeraldas, Ecuador!

Este hallazgo ha sido posible gracias a la colaboración de investigadores de la Universidad de Hawaii, la Universidad San Francisco y FCAT 🤓💚. En nuestra fundación, creemos firmemente en la inclusión y el reconocimiento del trabajo fundamental realizado por los investigadores de campo, ya que su conocimiento y esfuerzo son esenciales para la conservación y el avance científico.

Este descubrimiento resalta la importancia de las reservas forestales para la conservación de los anfibios dependientes del bosque 🌳. La nueva información podría llevar a una reclasificación del nivel de amenaza de la especie en la lista de la IUCN, de Críticamente Amenazada a En Peligro, ampliando su área de ocupación de 8.0 km² a 16.0 km². ¡Una contribución crucial para la preservación de la biodiversidad en el Chocó ecuatoriano!

Congratulations to the authors of the recent publication on the discovery of a new locality for the critically endangered 🐸 poison dart frog, Leucostethus bilsa, in the FCAT Reserve within the #REMACH in Esmeraldas, Ecuador!

This finding has been possible thanks to the collaboration of researchers from the University of Hawaii, the University of San Francisco and FCAT 🤓💚. FCAT strongly believe in the inclusion and recognition of the fundamental work carried out by field researchers, as their knowledge and efforts are essential for conservation and scientific advancement.

This discovery highlights the importance of forest reserves for the conservation of forest-dependent amphibians 🌳. The new information could lead to a reclassification of the species' threat level on the IUCN list, from Critically Endangered to Endangered, expanding its area of occupancy from 8.0 km² to 16.0 km². A crucial contribution to the preservation of biodiversity in Ecuadorian Chocó!

En la reserva de FCAT tenemos una huerta donde los cultivos estan en asociacion con flores 🌺 e insectos 🪰🐞. De esta forma, los cultivos evitan enfermedades y se obtiene productos sanos y de buen sabor. La chillangua, la albahaca 🌿 , y el cilantro son plantas muy útiles como repelentes de insectos y dan la sazón en la cocina de FCAT. Estamos orgullosos de sembrar y consumir vegetales orgánicos, sanos, y km 0. 💚🌎

In the FCAT reserve we have a garden where crops are in association with 🌸 and insects 🪲🪰. In this way, crops avoid diseases and healthy, good-tasting products are obtained. Chillangua, basil🌿, and cilantro are very useful plants as insect repellents and provide seasoning in the FCAT kitchen. We are proud to grow and consume organic, healthy, and km 0 vegetables.💚🌎
