Apply to conduct Research at the FCAT Reserve
To conduct research at FCAT facilities, all researchers must submit a formal application and receive approval from the FCAT Scientific Committee. This process ensures that all research projects align with FCAT’s mission, values, and scientific priorities, and that they comply with relevant regulations and ethical guidelines. Please allow at least one month for review of the application prior to the proposed start date at FCAT.
The application process consists of the following steps:
1. Contact FCAT staff (fcat@fcat-ecuador.org) to discuss your research ideas and determine if FCAT facilities are appropriate for your project. Staff can provide guidance on logistics, permits, and other requirements.
3. Complete the online FCAT Research Application form. This form will ask for detailed information about your project.
3. The FCAT Scientific Committee will review your application and may request additional information or clarification. The committee meets regularly to review applications, but we recommend submitting your application at least 4 weeks prior to your anticipated start date to ensure adequate time for review and revision as needed.
4. Work with FCAT staff to finalize logistics for your research, including travel, accommodations, and access to facilities and equipment.
5. Conduct your research in accordance with FCAT policies and guidelines, as well as any relevant permits with the Ecuadorian Ministry of the Environment (MAATE) and regulations.
6. Submit a final report within 3 months of the completion of your project.
